One of the best things about a porcelain patio is the range of prices available. No matter your budget, we're sure you'll find a paving to suit your garden and your purse. Here we help you work out how much your patio might cost.
How much do porcelain pavers cost?
It is possible to find very cheap porcelain paving, but you need to check quality.
- Are the edges rectified? (This ensures that every slab is exactly the same size).
- How low is the porosity? (The lower its water absorption rate, the harder wearing it is.)
- Is it guaranteed?
Our porcelain patio paving starts at approximately £27 + VAT per square metre and rises to the upper limit of around £90 + VAT per m². Prices vary according to size of slab, country of origin, and texture and style.
We're extremely proud of our Budget porcelain, which offers quality pavers in a wide range of formats, colours and styles. Moving up through the price range brings in more detailed colours and textures, such as wood-effect tiles. The highest price encompasses extra-large format tiles for maximum impact in large spaces.
It's also worth remembering that ALL our porcelain carries 10-Year HomeOwner's Guarantee, so you can rest assured on the quality of your purchase.

How many slabs do I need?
All our paving product pages include a link to a paving calculator. Enter the dimensions of the area you want to pave and you can toggle the result between the square metre coverage required and the number of slabs.
Alternatively, measure the length and the width of the area, and multiply the two together. If it's an awkward shape, divide it into measurable sections, calculate each section, and add the results together.
So, an area 6.5m x 9m, using 600 x 600mm slabs:
- 6.5m divided by 600mm = 10.8 (round up to 11 slabs)
- 9m divided by 600mm = 15
- No. of slabs required: 11 x 15 = 165
We recommend always ordering 10% more than calculated for, to allow for wastage, breakages and miscalculations. Also, please note that we always do a quality check prior to delivery and if the picking team notice that any pieces are broken in a crate, they add the equivalent number of free slabs to your delivery (to save time unpacking and reloading).
How much are porcelain paving labour costs per square metre?
Of course, porcelain slabs are not the only expense when laying a patio. It also has to be built. Not everyone wants to lay a porcelain patio themselves and customers often ask us about the porcelain paving labour cost per square metre in the UK. It’s a tough question to answer. Landscaper rates vary, as do rates across different areas of the country.
We've found that most reputable landscaping contractors will not quote a project based on labour charges alone. Reputable firms typically offer a fixed quotation that covers labour, all associated materials, and waste disposal. The going rate for porcelain installation ranges from £200 to £300 per square metre and includes all of this.
Note that you may find it slightly more expensive to have porcelain paving laid than natural stone. This is because slabs need primer added to the back to aid adhesion, and specialist cutting equipment may need to be hired, as porcelain is an extremely dense material.
For comparison purposes, we always advise customers to get more than one quote on the cost of their patio. London Stone provides a directory of landscape contractors, so you can more easily find landscapers in your area.
