Yorkstone is perennially popular. Clients love it. Designers love it. We love it! Its crisp lines and historic prestige are lovely to work with.
Britannia Buff Yorkstone - as seen here in a clean, crisp scheme from Harrington Porter
As you know, at London Stone we always want to make life as easy as possible for you. So, from this month, Grey and Buff Sawn Yorkstone are available in standard sizes, straight off the shelf. Not just in paving, either.
“Gone are the days of waiting weeks and weeks for Yorkstone,” said Steve Walley, our MD. “In an increasingly challenging market, we hope that having this material at your disposal is as effective as it is innovative.”
With Paving available in 900 x 600mm, 600 x 600mm and 600 x 400mm slabs, classic Bullnose Steps in generous, design-friendly widths of 2000 x 500mm and 900 x 500mm, and Copings at 600 x 300mm with a neat Pencil Round Edge, we think we’ve got your major needs covered.
Catherine MacDonald falls in love with Grey Yorkstone, Chelsea Flower Show 2016
One of the reasons we’re so pleased to be able to offer this is that you can’t get away from Yorkstone’s quality. There’s a reason why it gains it a place at virtually every Chelsea and Hampton Court Flower Show. Landform's Catherine MacDonald, who used it to great effect in the Seedlip Garden at Chelsea in 2017, as well as the Hartley Botanic Garden in 2016, freely admits, “I love Grey Yorkstone.”
Gentle natural variations swayed Creative Roots' Neil Sutcliffe - RHS Chatsworth 2017
Neil Sutcliffe of Creative Roots used it in Time for Everything at Chatsworth last year, commenting on how he liked its markings, especially when wet.
Matt Keightley chose it for the Jeremy Vine Texture Garden at Chelsea. He used giant slabs, but commented “With Grey Yorkstone, the fewer joints, the more minimalist and contemporary it appears.” Hence our inclusion of the largest standard format, 900 x 600mm.
It also stars in the winning photo he took for our competition in 2016/17. “Grey Yorkstone gives the planting a muted structure,” he explained. “In the normal light of day, where planting can appear ordinary, against this stone it really pops out.”
A multi award-winning scheme from Rosebank Landscaping - Tyre Hill House
Buff Sawn Yorkstone gives you a slightly warmer colour to play with, also with subtle, attractive markings.
Both colours blend well with contemporary and traditional settings and, of course, we continue to offer bespoke sizes and finishes from our Bespoke Stone Centre (in fact, we can’t resist reminding you that an engraved piece of Yorkstone looks absolutely gorgeous), but now you have this hard-wearing, versatile stone - which suits so many designs and that, importantly, clients recognise as top quality - available without delay. “Being able to offer such a prestigious product as Sawn Yorkstone to our customers, off the shelf, is a real coup for us,” added Steve.
As ever, we’ll be more than happy to discuss your requirements. Get in touch by giving us a ring, emailing or clicking on Live Chat above.
