Happy New Year from London Stone! It may already seem like a distant memory, but we hope that the festive period was enjoyable for all. In the spirit of fresh starts, London Stone are excited to announce our decision to enter the New Year with improved working hours for our staff members. This blog will walk you through all the details of our new working hours and showroom opening times. And perhaps a new perspective on your own working hours.
London Stone aim to reduce working hours for its staff with the aim of creating happier, healthier staff
Over the years there have been numerous studies supporting the view that working fewer hours leads to greater productivity, as well as healthier and happier employees. Healthy employees will have more energy and be more motivated to do their job. Overworked, stressed and exhausted employees have less energy and motivation. Ultimately taking longer to do a task because they lack the same level of alertness that someone working shorter days has. It is also widely accepted that increased stress levels lead to underlying health issues.

For these reasons, London Stone have made the proactive decision to reduce our working hours. With immediate effect London Stone staff will now be working a 40-hour week. This equates to a reduction of 2.5 hours per week. London Stone are proud to say that this exciting change will not impact the salary of any staff members. The hope is that by making this change, staff members will experience an improved work/life balance. Enhancing the general quality of life for staff, which is something that London Stone are passionate about. It is also anticipated that this change will lead to a superior ability to focus on work, which in turn will increase in productivity.
Showroom Opening Hours
But don’t worry, you’ll still be able to visit our trade counter as usual. The Trade Counter still opens at 07:00, and shuts at 17:00, with staff working staggered shifts to ensure that you don’t need to change your visiting habits. The London Stone Showrooms will be open 08:30 to 17:00 and you can expect the same level of exceptional customer experience you are used to from well rested staff!
London Stone's e-commerce website is live 24/7, so you can order products around your own working hours - however flexible!
Don’t forget you can also use our e-commerce website to order all our natural stone or porcelain paving, decking, ancillary products and more, that you need out of hours. With next day delivery available for many of our ranges you don’t need our Showrooms to be open to continue with your business. We appreciate that everyone works at times convenient to them and their business.
We feel that this initiative demonstrates our commitment to keeping our staff healthy and happy. Encouraging an environment that focuses on bettering our customer relationships, but also our staffs experience of the business, is key for us. Our long-term expectation is that we will move towards reducing working hours again in 2020. Watch this space!
