Use fence panels to create a stunning, contemporary boundary to your garden scheme
Western Red Cedar Fencing
Cedarwood has many natural qualities that make it a great choice for fencing. It is lightweight, stable and naturally resistant to rotting, splitting, and warping - Contemporary Fencing's panels come with a 20-year guarantee.
Cedarwood varies in colour from honey to dark brown, and natural variation and graining mean that no piece is identical. Over 2-3 years, it weathers to a beautiful silver-grey colour, with dark streaks. If you would prefer the fencing to retain its original colour, then it can be treated with UV-resistant oil.
Contemporary Fencing have designed their fence panels to be quickly and easily installed. There are just three steps involved and, once installed, the fencing posts are not visible. The screws have also been coated to blend with the wood. Together, this produces a completely seamless result. The fence posts can either be installed directly into the ground or attached to existing walls or fencing to enhance their appearance.
Privacy panels
Western Red Cedar fencing comes in a range of ready-made panels with a clean, contemporary look. For seclusion, check out the privacy panels. Tightly slatted, they ensure no one can see through, but the rebated design of the shiplap boards creates a shadow line that emulates slatted fencing. This gives you a modern linear appearance that's very popular.
Privacy panels can also be combined with open-slatted panels to allow a section at the top to allow light through.
Slatted panels offer a compromise between total privacy and a flow of light and air through the fence. Choose from bevel-edged or square-edged panels for a style that suits your garden and place where the sun strikes them, to create gentle shade and enjoy the play of shadow created by the slats as the light changes through the day.
Slot-in Red Cedarwood Panels
Slot-in fencing so often offers a rustic look. Here the smooth planed battens with their narrow format fit comfortably into modern design. The framed construction—which incidentally makes the panels very strong—has enough of a traditional appearance, though, to let them slide easily into older surroundings.
Panels come with bevel-edged or square-edged slats and the choice of five panel sizes makes them useful for everything from tall boundary fencing to low garden dividers. Just right when you’re itching to introduce contemporary detail.
Siberian Larch Fencing
Siberian larch originates in one of the coldest climates on earth. Growing slowly in very low temperatures makes the timber dense, with a tight grain and very few knots. This structure, along with the naturally occurring oils and tannins within the wood, means it is highly resistant to rot. In fact, larch wood doesn't need a wood preservative applied for this very reason.
Contemporary Fencing's range includes Drift Larch Panels, treated to give them a weathered effect. This makes them look immediately at home, especially in older properties. Panels come in a range of sizes that may be stacked one above the other to create more height. You can also trim panels to create a fence exactly the height you need.
Noir Slatted Fence Panels are treated, pre-construction, to give the effect of charred wood. The burnt timber finish is reminiscent of Shou Sugi Ban wood, created in Japan for its longevity and attractive appearance.
Larch Posts for Cedar Fencing
You can’t beat the svelte look of a cedar fence. However, recent supply difficulties and inflating prices have added considerably to the cost of cedar fence posts. Larch posts offer a robust and budget-friendly alternative that will last just as long and blend in unnoticeably.
Untreated Larch fence posts are ideal when you intend your cedar panels to weather naturally, as larch also weathers to an elegant silver-grey. Don't worry, though, if you want to preserve the colours of your cedar panels with UV-resistant oil. Treated with cedar oil, larch posts take on a warm colour and are indistinguishable from cedar fence posts. To maintain the appearance, the stain should be applied every 3-4 years.
Of course, a timber post of any description gradually deteriorates where it is buried in the ground. This is why Contemporary Fencing supplies all larch wood posts with an extremely effective Postsaver sleeve. Ensure your posts are installed with the sleeve, and they carry a twenty-year guarantee, just like the cedar fence panels.
