What our Landscape Consultants offer

Our Landscape Consultants work with designers, landscapers, architects and developers. The extra mile that our team members go for customers is not about sales, but finding the right product for your project. Your landscape consultant is, as consultant Jamie Norris puts it, “a free add-on to your business”, helping you find exactly what’s needed.

Experience and knowledge

We're very proud of the understanding our consultants have of the industry. Some have joined us after many years with our competitors. Others have transferred from our showrooms and sales team and know our products and customers inside out. Nick Rixton, who looks after the Gloucestershire/Somerset region, even used to a be London Stone customer for the many years he worked as a landscaper.

All this industry experience and knowledge means that our consultants understand where you’re coming from. They know the problems, can suggest solutions, explain materials and make sure you get exactly what you need. And they can help you with information to give your client. “We’ve got decades of experience within the team—I had 22 years in the industry before I joined,” says Jamie Norris, Head of Business Development - South.

“We’re a close team and we help each other,” adds Stuart, Head of Business Development - North. “All that experience is priceless—we can give laying advice, installation advice, cleaning advice… Our role can help deliver brilliant projects."

Nationwide coverage

Our team has doubled in size in the last four years, thanks to demand. Now a team of nine, with two more office-based staff supplying admin support, we fully expect to expand further. Current expansion means that we now have Stuart Williams heading his team in the north of the country, and Jamie Norris and his team in the south. "This strategy means we can look after the whole team better, have more structure and go on developing the areas," explained Jamie.

“Now we can give even better service,” says Stu. “It’s about supporting the customers, doesn’t matter how small the project is. We build relationships with customers face to face, help them with their clients.”

Stuart Williams - Head of Business Development - North

Stuart joined in April 2020. Previously at Marshalls, Stuart had 13 years' experience in both commercial and domestic projects. He now heads the northern section of our team.

Steve's has gained vast experience across London Stone in various roles including as an estimator and showroom manager. Now Sales Support Manager, he provides vital support to the team by making sure the admin goes smoothly and also taking orders and supplying quotes direct to customers.

Ellie Frost

Working within our sales team for almost five years, Ellie joined Steve Goulds as Sales Support, providing assistance in supplying quotes and orders, and being a point of contact.

Products on display

Our growing number of showrooms is all part of this help, as they’re the ideal place to for you to send homeowners to view products. Thanks to our continuing showroom expansion, you have more opportunities for us to connect with you, and you can browse our displays at leisure. Every showroom has the facility to host meetings, and the Landscape Consultants regularly welcome gatherings of the Society of Garden Designers. You’ll find them at APL cluster meetings too.

This is all a welcome difference from the trend across the landscaping industry, where besides some companies reducing their trade-focussed workforce, others trade entirely online. “Online companies don’t have sales teams, so you can’t have conversations with them about schemes you’re working on. It's also more difficult to resolve any issues.” says Stu.

No job too small

Think you'll only get noticed if you have a big project? Think again! "It's about supporting customers," says Stuart. "It doesn't matter how small the project is." And, of course, very occasionally things can go wrong, which is where personal contact is such a bonus. You always have a point of contact to go to directly within London Stone.

As a designer or landscaper, you'll have someone who knows all about your project and what it needs. Don't worry about a hard sell; we're here to assist, not sell you something you don't need.
