London Stone's Cottage Garden collection of clay paving bricks is meticulously curated to provide you with the finest options for creating beautiful and enduring outdoor spaces. Whether you are designing a garden path, a patio, or a driveway, our clay patio bricks are designed to meet all your needs with style and durability.
The Beauty of Cottage Garden Clay Pavers
Aesthetic Variety
Comprising of six varieties of Dutch bricks, our Cottage Garden clay pavers are manufactured with an antiqued surface texture and a tumbled edge, to give them a weathered, rustic look. Each paver is designed to blend seamlessly with different architectural styles, making them a versatile choice for any project, but especially suited to the gardens of period properties and traditional designs. Cottage Garden clay pavers can however, be paired with more modern materials like porcelain, or natural stone, to give a beautiful, timeless finish.
Although most commonly laid ‘flat,’ with the widest surface facing upward, these clay pavers can also be laid on their edge, to give a slightly more modern feel to your space. If you are laying any clay paving on its edge, it is important to note that when calculating the quantity you require, to double what you would order if you were laying the product on its widest surface.
Durability
In the autumn of 2020, London Stone acquired the industry-leading Chelmer Valley brand, renowned within the landscaping industry for supplying beautiful, quality, clay paving. Manufactured from high-quality clay, our paving bricks are built to withstand the outdoor elements. Their robust nature ensures they maintain their beauty and structural integrity over time, providing a long-lasting solution for your outdoor spaces.
Unlike concrete block paving, clay paving does not fade in colour over time, and is manufactured to be natural stain resistant, making it one of the hardest wearing, and lowest maintenance exterior paving materials on the market.

Installation and Maintenance
Installation Tips
We have developed a detailed clay paving installation video in collaboration with award-winning landscapers and our training partner, The Landscape Academy.
For optimal results, clay pavers should be installed on a 'non-rigid' base, allowing for slight movement, unlike natural stone or porcelain pavers which are typically set on a sand and cement base. Every product we offer comes with a comprehensive installation guide for your assurance.
When laying clay pavers, ensure they are installed with proper drainage slope. If laying a driveway, it may need to be SuDS (Sustainable Urban Drainage Systems) compliant. We’ve broken-down this highly technical area into bitesize chunks, so that you can learn more about it, and see if you need to comply.
Maintenance Advice
Maintaining clay paving is straightforward. Clay bricks are engineered to resist stains naturally and can be easily kept in excellent condition with regular sweeping and occasional, gentle jet washing.
Sealing: Sealing clay pavers is not necessary or recommended. There are a few instances where sealing may be preferable, such as for aesthetic reasons.
Repair: In the unlikely event of damage to a clay paver, due to the bricks being laid on a non-rigid base, lifting and replacing individual pavers is easily achieved.
