Why is Grey Porcelain Paving So Popular?

Grey is the most popular of all porcelain paving colours and is always on trend. It's easy to see why. Grey is such a neutral colour that it blends well with many different architectural styles and building materials. It's also very sympathetic to other colours. This is a huge design advantage as it creates a harmonising effect, even if you choose quite different shades for different garden features, and therefore helps to unite a design.

Grey is also a forgiving colour that conceals dirt better than light paving slabs and black slabs. And because of grey's universal popularity, there are more styles, textures, and shades to choose from than for any other colour.

Browse the many different options across all our paving collections and you're bound to find exactly the right choice for your patio. Choose the classic paving shape of 900x600mm or widen your design options with large format or 600x600mm grey porcelain slabs for a different feel. Some of the most popular colours, especially in our Project Porcelain range, are available as planks and setts, too. With the crisp lines and exact dimensions of these outdoor tiles, you instantly have a modern design in a timeless colour.

Grey Paving Ideas to Get You Started

  • Lighter colours such as Silver grey porcelain paving create a fresh feel without the glare that can occur with white tiles in sunshine.
  • A multitude of mid-grey options offer shades and textures to suit many different settings. Kandla Grey porcelain, for example, is an extremely popular alternative to the natural sandstone—more uniform and easier to care for. Florence Grey porcelain paving is an ideal choice when you're looking for a natural limestone appearance. Or Urban Grey is one of the options for a more contemporary look.
  • Alternatively, think dark. Black and dark grey porcelain paving add drama, intensifying other colours, including the greens of foliage or the colour splash of cushions on outdoor furniture. You might like to consider Anthracite Grey to match your furniture or grey pergola, creating a tonal design that's minimalist and modern.

With the wide choice of shades available, grey is also a good colour for a scheme with contrasting paving where dark and light shades can be combined to add two-tone detailing.

Don't forget that all our grey paving is also available in steps and coping with a variety of edge profiles, so you can fine-tune your garden design to the exact look you want.
