Larsen Streetscape PS Primer Information

Slurry Primer is painted onto the underside of paving materials to aid adhesion with the bedding layer. Also known as a bond bridge, slurry forms a solid course which helps prevent moisture and cementitious materials leaching up into the paving, and is recommended for use with lighter coloured materials. Slurry primer also improves adhesion and should be used with non-porous stones, such as Slate, Porcelain and Granite. Both Larsen Streetscape PS Primer and SBR Bond contain polymers for improved performance and require only the addition of water to create the slurry.- London Stone supplies Larsen Streetscape PS Primer in 25kg bags for application to large areas, while the smaller, resealable tubs of SBR Bond are ideal for smaller projects. Both remove the need to mix multiple materials, so saving you time. SBR primer is increasingly used to help underpin a long-lasting finish to hard landscaping and should be considered where paving is subject to heavy traffic, to increase durability. It's recommended for lighter coloured paving to protect against the incidence of staining and picture framing.

Larsen Outdoor Paving Adhesive Information

The Larsen paving adhesives supplied by London Stone have been chosen to meet all the requirements when laying our porcelain and natural stone paving. These are suitable as outdoor tile adhesive whether your project is domestic or commercial, for paving or walls, and can be used for swimming pools. They are also suitable for indoor use, including with underfloor heating and over-sheeted timber.

Manufactured in the UK, Larsen outdoor tile adhesives may be used in a bed thickness of 3-12mm, or up to 20mm in isolated areas. They come in standard set and rapid set options. Flexible Rapid Set+ may be grouted after six hours and full traffic after 12 hours. Depending on conditions, light foot traffic may be possible after six hours. Flexible Standard Set may be grouted after 18 hours and receive full traffic after 24 hours. Depending on conditions, light foot traffic may be received after 18 hours.

What Is Flexible Tile Adhesive?

A flexible tile adhesive contains ingredients that allow it to stretch and flex when under tension. Although you may not think your paving or wall tiles will be stretching and flexing, they will expand and contract with fluctuating temperatures. Even a solid concrete base may be subject to tiny movements as it continues to cure over several years. Flexible paving adhesive allows for small movements in the slabs and substrate. If a non-flexible adhesive were used, it might fail when subjected to movement or vibration, in which case you would find slabs working loose. Tiles may also be subject to heavy items being dropped on them. Flexible adhesive absorbs energy, compensating for the inability of rigid materials, such as porcelain and natural stone, to do this, and helping to protect them from damage.

What Is S1 Tile Adhesive?

Larsen Flexible Rapid and Standard Set are both S1 rated. This means they have increased flexibility (or deformability) when compared with non-flexible adhesives, with a deformability of 2.5-5mm. This is perfectly adequate for most tiling jobs. For comparison, an S2 rated adhesive possesses greater deformability, over 5mm. Some adhesives allow for as much as 20mm and are used where a much higher level of movement is expected.

What Colour Paving Adhesive Should I Use?

Larsen outdoor tile adhesive is available in two colours: grey and white. Check our recommendations on the product pages for which to use with porcelain and light-coloured natural stone paving. If you’re in any doubt which to use, contact us or tile a small trial area with white adhesive and back butter the tiles to ensure uniform coverage.
